Assist. Prof. Ivan Ivanov, PhD

Ivan Ivanov was born in Haskovo, Bulgaria. He received his Master’s degree in Chemical technologies in 1994 at the University of Bourgas, Bulgaria.

He defended his PhD thesis at the Institute of Catalysis, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in 2008, supervisor: Prof. Donka Andreeva.

Since 2010 he has been working as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Laboratory of New catalytic materials and nanosized catalysts at the Institute of Catalysis, BAS, Sofia.

Ivan Ivanov is a member of the National Catalysis Society since 2005.

Dr. I. Ivanov researches in the field of heterogeneous catalysis, in particular nano-sized gold catalysts and their application for new energy sources and environmental protection. A major part of his scientific interests is in the field of synthesis of new mixed-oxide systems as supports, as well as their physicochemical characterization and is focused on understanding the nature of the catalytic mechanisms.
